This series is from my time in the capital, Havana. These images were taken at the famous Colon Cemetary, one of Cuba's most beautiful sights. This and the next image are particularily special. In the cemetary there lies a grave with great meaning to the Cuban community. The grave belongs to Amelia, a socialite of Cuban society at the time. She married a man not from her class, but he loved her dearly. When she died she was pregnant, and her and her infant were buried together. Her husband visited her grave everyday, and would pray to his love and dead child. Her grave was reopened after some time and it was found that the child, which was buried at her feet, moved towards her bosom. Since this miracled occurred, women who are having issues concieving go and pray to Amelia for a miracle. When their miracle occurs they send a marble plack to be made in her honor. These placks go on and on, all thanking Amelia for her help.
